About

My name is Darcie Profeit, I'm a Northern Tutchone Indigenous photographer and a proud member of the Selkirk First Nation. My work is inspired by storytelling and the unique history of each subject I have the privilege of photographing.

Candid photos hold a special place in my heart. I have a profound love for capturing raw and authentic emotions and freezing moments that unfold naturally. You can see this style in many of the portraits I take.

I am constantly driven to push creative boundaries in my ongoing work. I strive to create visually curious images that evoke thought and emotion. I currently have some projects underway which follow a cultural narrative with a focus on our Elders and cultural leaders of the Yukon.

As an Indigenous photographer, I understand the importance of representation and the power of imagery in shaping perceptions. Through my lens, I seek to challenge stereotypes, foster understanding, empower marginalized communities, and most of all tell a story.
